The Corridor of Compassion

The Corridor of Compassion was officially opened by the 2010 C4S charity ride that linked the Best Friends Sanctuary in Utah with the McKee Project in Costa Rica.

Purpose of the Corridor is to unite communities and animal organizations that are engaged on common fronts: to advance the rights of companion animals, to promote humane methods of pet population control, to help strays off the streets by placing them in loving homes when possible.

Sporting events have always been conducive to bridging cultural and political differences and riding across countless villages in developing nations after beginning at the Best Friends Sanctuary was meant as a message of hope, an extended hand, an offer to help.

In the United States we have made tremendous progress as far as the rights of companion animals are concerned. Still, our shelters are overflowing with unwanted pets, people keep breeding animals in their backyards and puppy mills house dogs in conditions that we, as a nation, should be ashamed of. Nevertheless, in developing countries, animal organizations are in awe of the means that we have at our disposal to advance our cause and rely on our help to support their programs.

We hope that the Corridor will be the link that unites dozens of different organizations, making small advocacy groups active in rural areas of impoverished nations feel part of a bigger team, one that, eventually, will end the tragedy of homeless pets whether across town or across the border.

This is a global tragedy we face, one that requires a global solution. Please support the Corridor of Compassion by donating or purchasing our Rescue Coffee. Gracias!
